Individualized Home Supports Without Training:
Individualized Home Support Without Training offer aid, oversight, and supervision to both adults and children in their personal residences. These services involve a staff member offering direct oversight, prompts, direction, teaching, help with everyday tasks, or support in organizing and participating in community activities. This support can be delivered either within the individual’s home or in community settings.
Individualized Home Supports With Training:
The Training in Community Living service categories encompass a detailed range of skill-enhancement and educational services aimed at helping individuals learn, maintain, and enhance their ability to live independently within a community setting. These services are specifically tailored to equip persons with the necessary skills and knowledge for day-to-day living in communal environments. To be considered valid, the training provided must fall within designated categories of community living services that are permissible. Additionally, the nature and scope of the training are to be directly aligned with the specific needs and requirements identified during the individual’s assessment process. This ensures that the training is not only relevant but also effectively meets the unique needs of the person, facilitating a more successful integration and functioning within the community.
Respite both In-home and Out-of-home:
Respite Care: This refers to temporary caregiving services offered to an individual when their usual caregiver is unavailable or requires a break. Main Caregiver(s): The individual or individuals primarily tasked with providing care and oversight to the recipient of these services. In-home Respite Services: These are respite services delivered to an individual within their own residence. This service may also encompass activities in community spaces frequented by the public (such as shopping centers, public parks, or libraries) while the individual remains in their home environment. External Respite Services: These are respite services provided to an individual in a facility or environment that is neither licensed nor their personal home. Similar to in-home respite, this service may involve activities in public community spaces (like malls, parks, or libraries) while the individual is accommodated in a setting other than their personal residence.

Elderly Waiver (EW) and Alternative Care (AC):
Programs fund home and community-based services (HCBS) for people 65 years old and older who require the level of care provided in a nursing home, but choose to live in the community. These programs provide services and supports for people to live in their homes or a community setting and may delay or prevent nursing facility (NF) care. The purpose of these programs is to promote community living and independence with services and supports designed to address each person’s individual needs and choices. In the case of EW, the additional services go beyond what is otherwise available through Medical Assistance (MA).
